Samsung is obviously one of the biggest phone companies out there, and honestly the only one that really stands toe-to-toe with the iPhone.

But here’s the funny part: most people don’t realise how deep Samsung’s hardware game actually goes. They don’t just make their own phones, they supply parts to a bunch of other brands. And yep, even Apple ends up using Samsung’s stuff

Display

Think back to 2010. The iPhone 4 era. Honestly, owning that phone was the ultimate flex. Steve Jobs was on stage doing his thing, making everyone believe they were looking at the future. The hype was real.

But here is the twist most people miss: while the world was busy fanboying over Apple’s genius, Samsung was the one quietly doing the actual heavy lifting in the background.

That A4 chip powering the device? The literal brain keeping the show running! Yeah, manufactured by Samsung. It is a detail that often gets lost in the noise of their later courtroom dramas, which, let’s be honest, were a whole different TV serial on their own.

Fast forward to the iPhone X era, the "notch" life. Apple finally decided to go all-in on those stunning, edge-to-edge OLED displays.

But here was the catch: they needed millions of panels with zero compromise on quality. At that time, there was only one player in the global market with the muscle to pull that off. You guessed it, Samsung again. It was less of a choice for Apple and more of a necessity.

Apart from Apple, many other brands such as Google, Noting, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo also refer to Samsung for display.

Camera sensors

You think Samsung only puts cameras in Galaxy phones? Wrong. Their ISOCELL sensors are the secret weapon behind many "camera beasts."

  • Google Pixel: The Pixel 8 Pro’s main camera uses a Samsung ISOCELL GNK sensor to get those crisp shots.
  • Motorola & Xiaomi: That insane 200MP camera on the Moto Edge 30 Ultra and Xiaomi 12T Pro? That’s the Samsung ISOCELL HP1.
  • Vivo: Many of their flagship gimbal cameras run on Samsung glass.

In fact, Samsung is reportedly investing $1.9 Billion in a Texas factory to make special image sensors. Rumors say these could be for future iPhones. Imagine an iPhone clicking photos with Samsung DNA. The irony is delicious!

Memory & storage: The silent backbone

If display and camera info were amazing, hold my beer, because, whether you use a OnePlus 12, a Xiaomi 14, or a Nothing Phone, there is a high chance the LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage inside are made by Samsung as well.

They are the world's memory godowns. Even Qualcomm often gets its Snapdragon chips made at Samsung’s foundries!

The relation

So, the next time your friend trolls you for having a "green bubble" or an Android, just smile. Because deep down, their phone is powered by the very company they claim to hate.

In the tech world, money speaks louder than fan wars. Apple needs Samsung’s hardware, and Samsung loves Apple’s cheques. It’s the ultimate symbiotic relationship.
