The Supreme Court has rejected the apology submitted by BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh minister Kunwar Vijay Shah over his objectionable remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. The apex court has ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team to probe the case. The SIT will include three IPS officers from outside Madhya Pradesh, and must have at least one woman officer. The next hearing is scheduled for May 28.

SC To Hear Mahmudabad's Plea

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the plea for relief by Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad. He was arrested by the Haryana Police over a Facebook post related to ‘Operation Sindoor’. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal mentioned the matter before Chief Justice BR Gavai, calling the post “entirely patriotic.” The CJI has agreed to list the petition soon.

Alleged ISI Spy Held

Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested a man named Shehzad from Moradabad for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s ISI and smuggling goods across the border. This marks at least the eighth such arrest in recent days across the country.Meanwhile, Harish Malhotra, father of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, has said he had no knowledge of his daughter’s visits to Pakistan. Jyoti, a resident of Haryana, was arrested last week on suspicion of sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence services.

Bengaluru Deluge & Chaos

Bengaluru is grappling with a messy Monday after overnight rains wreaked havoc across the city. Roads are waterlogged, residential areas inundated, and traffic has come to a near standstill. The city recorded 103 mm of rain in 24 hours, and more showers are expected in the coming days.
