Team India captain Rohit Sharma addressed ongoing speculation surrounding his future with the national team during a pre-match press conference in Nagpur on Wednesday. With India having dominated England in the recently concluded T20I series, winning it 4-1, all eyes are now on the upcoming ODI series, set to begin on February 6. Despite India’s commanding performance, Rohit has faced scrutiny due to his inconsistent form since the start of the season. When asked about his future with the team, the skipper made it clear that such discussions were irrelevant at this point.

Rohit firmly responded, "How is it relevant that I talk about my future plans when there are three ODIs and the Champions Trophy ahead? These reports about my future have been circulating for years, and I’m not here to clarify them." He continued, emphasizing that his immediate focus was on the important upcoming fixtures: "For me, the three games against England and the Champions Trophy are what matter right now. I’ll see what happens after that."

The skipper also touched upon his own poor form, acknowledging the challenges he’s faced recently. Rohit pointed out that this was just a phase in his career and that such ups and downs are a natural part of a cricketer’s journey. "This is a different format, a different time. As cricketers, we go through phases, and I've faced these challenges plenty of times in my career. This isn't something new for me," he said. Rohit further explained that he wasn’t dwelling on past performances, focusing instead on what lies ahead: "Every day is a new day, and every series is a fresh start. I’m looking forward to the upcoming challenge and plan to start this series on a high."
