On the night of May 8-9, Pakistan’s armed forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along India’s entire western border. The Indian Army confirmed on Friday that all attacks were effectively repulsed.
In addition to drone strikes, Pakistani troops carried out numerous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army shared an early morning post on X, along with a short video, vowing that “all nefarious designs will be responded with force.”
The operations have been codenamed Operation Sindoor. According to the Army's statement, a "befitting reply" was given to both the drone attacks and the ceasefire violations. “#IndianArmy remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation,” the post asserted.
These developments came after precise missile strikes by the Indian armed forces on May 7 under Operation Sindoor. Those strikes targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed on Thursday that any attack on Indian military installations would invite a “suitable response.” In a late-night statement, it detailed that military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur had been targeted by Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the International Border in Jammu & Kashmir.
The ministry confirmed that these threats were “swiftly neutralised” using both kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities, adhering to established standard operating procedures (SOPs). No casualties or material losses were reported in the incidents.
“India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people,” the defence ministry stressed.
