The Indian armed forces targeted nine terrorist sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, successfully destroying them. India's Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, stated that intelligence reports indicated further attacks were imminent. To deter and prevent more cross-border terrorism, India exercised its right to self-defence.
During the same press briefing, two women officers of the Indian armed forces, Colonel Sofiya Quershi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, shared details of the nine sites targeted. They said that the locations were carefully selected to avoid civilian infrastructure damage and loss of life.
Political leaders from all parties have praised the Indian armed forces for Operation Sindoor. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee shared a message on X, saying “Jai Hind! Jai India!”
Families of the victims of the Pahlagam terror attack have also welcomed the action, thanking the government and armed forces for avenging the tragedy. In response to India’s action, Pakistan has engaged in shelling along the Jammu and Kashmir border, which began at around 2 AM today.
India’s missile strikes on Pakistan have led to the temporary closure of several airports, including Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, and Chandigarh. Hundreds of flights have been affected.
