Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s recent airport interaction has the internet buzzing. The former couple, who dated for nearly three years back in 2007, continue to share a warm and respectful bond even years after their breakup.
Fans could not have enough and have been sharing video edits of the duo’s ‘dreamy’ meet at the airport. While some think that ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ part 2 may be coming soon, and some are taking this to be a great lesson in ‘how to be civil with your ex’!
However, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika are not the only ones to remain in touch and be cordial after a breakup.
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan are a perfect case in point. Despite ending their marriage in 2014, the two have been spotted vacationing together with their kids and are often seen hanging out with friends and family. Hrithik often shares his support for Sussanne, and the duo is even friends with each other's partners!
During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, the duo lived together to co-parent their kids. How ideal!
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao
Similarly, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao continue to work together even after announcing their separation in 2021. The duo, who co-founded Aamir Khan Productions, have collaborated on multiple projects post their split, including ‘Laapataa Ladies.’
They are often seen together, co-parenting their son Azad Rao Khan.
Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora
Another couple who have redefined staying friends with exes is Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora. They set an example when it comes to prioritising family over personal differences. Even though the two went their separate ways in 2017, they’ve co-parented their son Arhaan seamlessly. From attending family gatherings to sharing parenting duties, the duo has aced it all.
While these B-Town stars show the way, is it possible to remain friends with your ex? We asked psychotherapist Jyoti Das, who revealed that everyone’s paths and decisions are different, however, there is one thing to consider.
Jyoti told us, “Different relationships take different paths. There is no universal should or shouldn’t when it comes to navigating relationships. However, changing the dynamic of a relationship from romantic to platonic requires a lot of effort, respect, compassion, patience, time and inner work. So, probably yes, people can maintain healthy and respectful platonic relationships with their exes even though this statement may vary from relationship to relationship based on each unique person and their situation.”
