Security agencies on Wednesday released images and sketches of three men suspected of being involved in the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The suspects, identified as Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha, also had code names – Moosa, Yunus, and Asif. Officials told news agency PTI that the sketches were created with the assistance of survivors.
26 People Killed In Terror Attack
At least 26 people have been confirmed dead, with several more injured in the terror attack, one of the biggest in the region in decades. According to officials, the fatalities include two foreign nationals—one from the United Arab Emirates and another from Nepal—as well as two local residents.
Home Minister Visits Attack Site
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday reviewed the security situation at Baisaran in Pahalgam, following Tuesday’s terror attack. Before visiting the attack site, the Home Minister also paid tribute to the victims of the attack.Paying his tribute to the victims, the Home Minister wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “With a heavy heart, paid last respects to the deceased of the Pahalgam terror attack. Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared.”
PM Modi’s Meeting With EAM, NSA
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. The meeting took place shortly after the Prime Minister's return to India, having cut short his official visit to Saudi Arabia in response to the attack. Originally scheduled to return on Wednesday night, PM Modi arrived early on Wednesday morning.
Rahul Gandhi Calls For Justice
In response to the tragedy, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his solidarity with the victims' families, calling for justice and full support. In a social media post, Gandhi shared that he had spoken with Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah about the attack, receiving updates on the situation. The former Congress president is currently on an official visit to the United States.
