Ramzan In India

India sees vibrant Ramzan celebrations, especially in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Lucknow, where night markets, food stalls, and mosques come alive with people offering Taraweeh prayers and sharing Iftaars (evening meals). Significance Of Ramzan

Ramzan, also known as Ramadan, is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and holds profound significance for Muslims worldwide, including those in India. It is a period dedicated to fasting (Sawm), prayer, reflection, and community.

During this month, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs to cultivate self-discipline and spiritual growth. The pre-dawn meal is called Sehri, and the fast is broken at sunset with Iftar, often starting with dates and water, followed by a variety of traditional dishes.

In India, Ramzan is observed with deep devotion and cultural vibrancy. Mosques are illuminated, and special nightly prayers known as Taraweeh are conducted. Communities come together for Iftar, fostering unity and compassion.

Eid al-Fitr Likely On March 31

This year, Ramadan began in India on March 2, 2025, following the sighting of the crescent moon. The holy month is expected to conclude on March 30 or March 31, 2025, depending on the lunar observation. Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, is anticipated to be celebrated on March 31, 2025.
