OnePlus will launch its flagship series in China on October 27, introducing the
OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Ace 6. The Ace 6 will most likely come to India as the OnePlus 15R. The ‘R’ from this series has always been about the balance between performance and price. Here’s everything we know so far and why the 15R could be a serious threat in the upper mid-range segment.
A 165Hz Display that feels like a gaming monitor
One thing OnePlus has done exceptionally well since its beginning is its display. This time, they have taken the refresh rate a notch higher, taking a big jump from a 120Hz refresh rate to a 165Hz refresh rate.
Now, it might come across as some marketing gimmick, but it isn’t because the phone will also feature 165FPS gameplay in titles like Call of Duty Mobile, Clash of Clans, and Delta Force.
There is no official announcement about the display yet, but leaks suggest that the OnePlus 15R will pack a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a 1.5k resolution. There will also be an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which is expected to offer faster and more secure unlocking.
A fresh design language
The circular camera module that we saw in the OnePlus 12 and
OnePlus 13 has been replaced by a square-shaped camera module in the OnePlus 15. Honestly, I prefer this current module over that chunky round camera stack.
For colour, we get three options: Quick silver, flash white, and competition black. All three colours have a very a sporty aesthetic. The phone is rumoured to feature a metal frame for added durability.
Flagship-Level power, mid-range price
OnePlus 15R will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the same processor that the OnePlus 13 had. This means last year’s top-notch performance for a much lesser price.
OnePlus 13R was already impressive, and this time, with improved thermals, the performance should be even better.
Monster battery with lightning charging
OnePlus’s flagship has been consistent in terms of getting the big batteries every year. Surprisingly, the OnePlus 15R has a bigger battery than the flagship OnePlus 15, if the leaks are anything to go by. The OnePlus 15R is expected to feature a 7800mAh battery with a SuperVOOC 80W wired charging support and 40W wireless charging support.
Imagine, OnePlus 15R– an affordable version from the series, having a bigger battery than the flagship OnePlus 15. That can become one of the biggest selling points for OnePlus 15R.
Cameras and software
The OnePlus 15 series gets its cameras point, more or less every single time; they may not the best of course, but they are pretty decent enough for the price they come in at. According to some reliable leaks suggest the OnePlus 15R will have a 50MP main, a 50MP with 2X optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera setup on the rear panel.
Moving on to the most exciting part–software. OnePlus 15R will ship OxygenOS 16, based on Android 16, which means a new and smoother UI and better customisation.
Launch timeline and expected pricing
Leaks suggest that the OnePlus 15R will launch in India by November 13. The expected price of the phone would be around Rs 45,000 to Rs 49,000. If that turns out to be true, it could easily become the go-to choice for gamers and power users who want flagship-level performance without flagship-level pricing.
